Our Story
At The Boar’s Head, we believe the best village pubs are a place where good food, warm hospitality, and community come together. Set within a 300-year-old building in the heart of Fife, The Boar’s Head is a modern Scottish gastropub with traditional values — a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can relax, connect, and enjoy being well looked after.
The pub is proudly owned and run by David and Justina, whose vision has always been simple: to create a country pub that feels welcoming, unpretentious, and reliably excellent. When we first took on The Boar’s Head, the building was in a very poor state, having suffered years of neglect. Rather than take shortcuts, we committed to a long-term renovation — currently carefully restoring the ageing property while respecting its history and improving it to modern standards.
That work continues today, with every improvement made to ensure The Boar’s Head becomes one of the very best village pubs of its kind, without losing the character and charm that make it special.
In the kitchen, our ethos mirrors this approach. We cook from scratch using locally sourced ingredients, producing food that is generous, flavour-led, and rooted in classic pub cooking — elevated thoughtfully, never overcomplicated. Our menus change with the seasons, allowing quality ingredients to shine while offering familiar favourites guests return for time and again.
Service is just as important as the food. Our brilliant front-of-house team are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, creating an atmosphere that feels relaxed and comfortable rather than formal. We are incredibly proud that this commitment has been recognised nationally, having been awarded both a 2-AA Rosette Award for quality and SLTN Gastropub of the Year in both 2024 and 2025. This back-to-back achievement reflects the consistency, care, and attention to detail that underpin everything we do.
